"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Luke 6:27,28

          Monday September 23 rd ~
Lyle and Barb (Deacons at the Willow Bay Baptist Church in American Falls, Idaho ) had invited me to come to their house today to do laundry and publish using their wifi.
Unfortunately the primary laptop chose this moment to stop working. Our technical adviser (David) suspects the power supply transformer. So I pulled out the backup laptop and sent the newsletter off as an email only. Then moved the website over to the backup and got published by mid-afternoon.
          Tuesday September 24 th ~
Drove east south east to Soda Springs, Idaho and sang at the hospital's nursing home. Then over to the "Spring Creek" assisted living facility.
The tennis elbow has improved somewhat over the past month as I've restricted the amount I've used it. But today I might have overdone it.
          Wednesday September 25 th ~
Having crossed into Wyoming, I continued east all the way to Laramie and parked overnight at the "Harvest Christian Center".
          Thursday September 26 th ~
Ministered at the "Ivinson Home" for a few ladies, then crossed the border into Nebraska ahead of a cold front.
As I was driving out of a fast food parking lot, a very angry man accosted me. He was extremely upset about the limiting visibility factor of the curtains in the van. It became immediately apparent that there was no reasoning with this kind of attack. So I simply drove away. He threw out a rather unkind expletive, as a parting shot.
I have no idea what was going on in this mans life to cause such negative emotion, but please pray for him and me as well for anything I might have done to set him off.
          Friday September 27 th ~
Sang at the "Centennial Park" retirement village in North Platte, Nebraska during their devotion time.
          Saturday September 28 th ~
Drove to Kearney, Nebraska and hooked up with Robert (pastor of the Methodist church). Spent the day visiting and enjoying a yummy grilled steak and vegetable dinner.
          Sunday September 29 th ~
Enjoyed the honor of sharing during the traditional sermon time in both morning services, followed by a delicious pot-luck lunch in their fellowship hall.
Joined Robert and his wife Joleen at a downtown theater to watch "Casablanca". Then back to their house for dinner and Sunday Night Football.

And so begins another week.

Guard, Guide And Direct You.

This week's newsletterhttp://www.nursinghomemusicministry.com/9-23-2013.html

September 23, 2013

Greetings,
This week the primary laptop has taken ill.
so there will be a delay on publishing. Below is this week's newsletter (Text Only).

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did
not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but
made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11

          Monday September 16 th ~
In Winnemucca, Nevada I woke up early in the Walmart parking lot. Went inside for a chocolate covered Bavarian cream filled doughnut. Then got over to the "Harmony Manor" nursing home where I was able to minister for the folks. Shortly after beginning, I noticed a lady in the back of the group in the hallway near the nurses station timidly peeking around the corner. She stood there for a long time and eventually sat down with a nurse until I finished.
As I was leaving, that same nurse wanted me to know that the lady hardly ever leaves her room, but when she heard the gospel music she surprised the staff by coming out. Praise God!
          Tuesday September 17 th ~
Drove to Battle Mountain, Nevada and sang in the nursing home attached to the hospital. Received a warm reception which after an unusually trying day, gave my spirit a much needed lift.
          Wednesday September 18 th ~
Continued into far north Nevada to the "Wild Horse State Recreation Area" and spent the afternoon recovering from yesterday's spiritual trauma; praying fervently for understanding, insight, wisdom and anything else that will help.
          Thursday September 19 th ~
Crossed the border into southern Idaho.
          Friday September 20 th ~
Drove east to the Baptist church in American Falls, Idaho. Arrived in time to help with the preparations for their Saturday Food Bank distribution.
This is a unique situation. A small group who seem to accomplish quite a bit.
Over a year ago a much larger group of Lutherans had split from their parent organization (because they couldn't accept that organizations decision to allow homosexual pastors). They teamed up with this Baptist group to share the building. So on Sundays there are two services; first Lutheran, second Baptist.
          Saturday September 21 st ~
Got a good physical workout helping with the monthly Food Band giveaway, enjoying the opportunity to spend time with others while doing some good.
          Sunday September 22 nd ~
Attended the first (Lutheran) service, then the second (Baptist) which gave me the honor of leading the song service. Lunch out with one of the couples, then again during evening (Baptist) service I enjoyed the opportunity to share a bunch of songs.

And so begins another week.
           May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!

Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
1 Timothy 3:2,3

          Monday September 9 th ~
Published the newsletter from the "Calvary Community Church" in Fields Landing, California. Then drove south to Ukiah where Fred & Carolyn (elders at Calvary) have a house they stay at part of the time. They also have an apartment across their street which they offered me the use of for a few days. It even has air-conditioning (Yippee). Gets kind of hot in Ukiah this time of year. In one day I went from Eureka (on the coast) which has highs in the 60's, to Ukiah (slightly inland) with highs near 100.
          Tuesday September 10 th ~
Spent the day with Fred & Carolyn.
          Wednesday September 11 th ~
Over to the "Ukiah Health Care" facility where we ministered for a sweet group of folks. Carolyn's sister (Joan) lives there.
          Thursday September 12 th ~
Having said my goodbyes last night, I straightened up the apartment and drove east through the southern tip of the coastal mountain range down into the hot Sacramento valley and back up into the Tahoe National Forest to the White Cloud campground for the night.
          Friday September 13 th ~
Crossed the border into Nevada and sang at the "Highland Village" retirement community in the town of Fallon. As I walked into the main activity room, I received a bit of a surprise. There were about 15 residents gathered round a table listening to the stereo. One of my Cd's happened to be playing at that moment and low and behold, the song at that instant was, "I'll Be Back".
Brought the guitar in and sang for them for awhile, then went into the Alzheimer's Unit for more.
          Saturday September 14 th ~
Drove to Lovelock, Nevada and hooked-up with Jeff, the pastor at the First Baptist church. Haven't seen him for a few years, he has bounced around as interim for short periods here and there.
          Sunday September 15 th ~
Attended First Baptist church here in Lovelock where Jeff turned over the traditional sermon time to me. I sang a little, spoke a little, testified about God's provision and opened up to question and answer opportunities. Seemed to work well, we ran out of time long before boredom set in.

And so begins another week.

Guard, Guide And Direct You.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
2 Corinthians 9:6

          Monday September 2 nd ~
Published from the "Calvary" church in Fields Landing, California.
Finished setting up the T.R.S. (temporary recording studio) and laid down the drum, guitar and vocal tracks for "Deck The Halls". Then got over to the pastors house in Eureka for a shower and afternoon Labor Day BBQ with their family.
          Tuesday September 3 rd ~
Spent the day at the church working on recordings.
Also finished formatting the eStore pages for the Cd's and book, now available through Amazon.

           Wednesday September 4 th ~
Ministered at the "Granada" nursing home in Eureka for about 20 residents and many staff members in the periphery.
More recording work and mid-week services back at "Calvary".
          Thursday September 5 th ~
Met pastor Dennis and elder Fred for breakfast,  I was then ushered over to Sears where the church provided two new tires and a front-end alignment for the van. Combined with the two tires which were replaced three weeks ago, I now have new tread all around. Praise God!
          Friday September 6 th ~
Attended the early morning men's thing at the Covenant church. Then ministered at the "Seaview" nursing home. The AD (Laura) enthusiastically gathered a pretty good size crowd.
          Saturday September 7 th ~
Spent the day on the laptop at the Calvary church. Stumbled onto a site that provides free Apps. So I got one in the works for the ministry. Then packed up the recording equipment in anticipation of heading out Monday.
During the night at the Covenant church along about 2:00 am in the morning I awoke, noticing someone walking around the outside of the van with a flashlight. And what I perceived to be a floodlight (like those used on police cruisers) shining on the van. Braced myself for a knock on the window, but it never came. I guess they saw the electric cord running from the van into the church and decided to leave me be.
          Sunday September 8 th ~
Accompanied Dennis, Fred and Carolyn to the church in Honeydew which is about an hours drive south and then west into the coastal mountains. There I enjoyed the honor of contributing some songs during the service.
Back in Eureka I spent some time visiting with Dennis and Daphany before getting my goodbye hugs.
Parked over at the Covenant church for one more night.

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Matthew 25:45

          Monday August 26 th ~
Published the newsletter from the library in Brookings, Oregon.
          Tuesday August 27 th ~
Having crossed into California, I arranged a nursing home in Crescent City for tomorrow and settled into a campsite just outside of town.
          Wednesday August 28 th ~
Sang at the Rehab Center for six residents and a couple of staff members. Did the laundry thing. Then continued down the coast.
Stopped in the small town of Orick and initially got permission to park overnight at a certain place, which shall remain nameless. But just before dark there was a knock on the van.     I was asked to leave.
Drove on into Eureka, California to a church I've parked at in the past.
          Thursday August 29 th ~
Folks at the "Covenant Church" here in Eureka not only give me a place to park, they even go out of their way to get an extension cord threaded through the mail slot so I can run a fan. They also have a shower I can use during office hours.
The dear folks at the Community church just outside of town also embrace the ministry by providing a key to the building so I can work on the laptop and use the kitchen facilities.
          Friday August 30 th ~
Attended an early morning { 6:30 ??? Why do you guys do this to yourselves:-) } men's get-together.
Ministered at "Ginger's Loving Care Home" for a few folks. Bless her heart, the owner (Ginger) has recently been through hip replacement surgery with continuing complications. We might want to pray for her.
          Saturday August 31 st ~
Spent the day at the Community church working on the laptop.
          Sunday September 1 st ~
Attended worship services at the "Calvary Community Church" where I enjoyed the honor of contributing a couple of songs and short messages. Joined three others for a late lunch, then began to set-up the T.R.S. (temporary recording studio) in the nursery room back at the church.

And so begins another week.
