Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Proverbs 19:17

          Monday December 19 th ~
Sent out the newsletter in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Unable to publish on the website this day. The Web-host having issues. Got over to the "Golden Living" nursing home and sang after a group of local kids.
          Tuesday December 20 th ~
Ministered at the "Lawrence County Nursing Center" in Monticello, Ms. for some sweet folks. Then on down the road to the "Salem Heights Baptist Church" outside of Laurel, Ms. where I hooked up with long-time friends.
          Wednesday December 21 st ~
It's my Birthday! Made it to 61, so far.
Spent most of the day on the laptop in the church library publishing the website with a new (required) program.
Got invited to join the church staff for lunch at their Christmas meal. And later during the evening service I was given the opportunity to sing a couple of songs.
          Thursday December 22 nd ~
Sang at the "Care Center of Laurel". The same activity staff have been here for many years, and welcomed me with open arms.
          Friday December 23 rd ~
Down the street to the "ComfortCare Nursing Center" where I was able to minister with a bunch of folks.
          Saturday December 24 th ~
Joined a group from the church, who host a Christmas Eve dinner at the Mission in town. And enjoyed the honor of sharing in song, testimony and message after the meal.
          Sunday December 25 th ~
Attended Christmas morning services at Salem Heights. Then over to the Mission where the founders (Richard & Gina) gave me the opportunity to share some more with the crowd.

And so begins another week.

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace."
Numbers 6:24-26

          Monday December 12 th ~
One of the members (Gail) of the First Baptist Church I'm parked at here in Dodson, Louisiana is on the staff of the Teen Challenge "Mt. Grace for Men" nearby. He invited me to share with about forty men at their devotional this morning. Sang a few, testified about the Lord's creation and provision for this ministry and answered a bunch of questions.
Then drove to the "Wyatt Manor" and sang for the folks. A group of patients of various ages dealing with mental/cognitive disabilities.
          Tuesday December 13 th ~
Up the road about ten miles to sing at the "Forest Haven" assisted living facility. Kids from a local school were due in to sing, with me to follow. But they were running late and I was early, so I got to go first.
          Wednesday December 14 th ~
Drove down the road about ten miles to Winnfield where I was able to minister at the "Autumn Leaves" ALF before Bingo.
Back in Dodson, Gail treated me to a meal at the only Cafe' in this small town which is run by the Teen Challenge crew. Then at the Baptist evening services I was given the honor of sharing a bit.
          Thursday December 15 th ~
Drove into Winnfield to minister at the oldest facility in town. Started in the Alzheimer's Unit. As I sang the first three songs, staff were handing out cigarettes to residents and then most everyone went outside. Left me standing there shaking my head.
So, I went back into the main area and started singing for one resident. A few more began to trickle in and when the staff finally came out of their meeting they helped a few more in.
Then back to the Unit where everyone had gathered in their small day-room. Seemed to be some pretty nasty spirits around, but as I continued singing the gospel, they left or quieted down for the most part. One of the more trying sessions I've had.
          Friday December 16 th ~
Having said my goodbyes to these lovely folks in Dodson, I drove east to Jena, Louisiana and sang at the "LaSalle Nursing Home". Then crossed the border into Mississippi.
          Saturday December 17 th ~
A day of rest at the "Clear Springs" campground in the Homochitto National Forest.
          Sunday December 18 th ~
Came a storm'n last night. Drove to a little country church "Lucien Baptist" which I've attended in the past. Shortly after I arrived an old-timer showed up to turn on the heat and discovered that the electricity was out in the area. He said they'd be cancelling services on this rainy, near freezing day. So, he had the pastor (Carol) call me, who wanted to meet for lunch as we have in previous years.
I decided to go to the "Countrybrook Living Center" and have "church" with about twelve residents. Then met Carol and his wife Cindy for a reunion lunch. Afterwards, they wanted to top off my gas tank and provide a motel room for the night. Sweet!

And so begins another week.

          Monday December 5 th ~
Started off this week in Yoakum, Texas where many of my extended family live. A few days ago one of my aunts (Leona) passed on. Being nearby allowed me to attend the funeral which presented the opportunity to see a bunch of kinfolk I haven't seen in quite some time.
          Tuesday December 6 th ~
Drove northeast to cousin Don & Sue Ellen's place for a wonderful meal and visit.
          Wednesday December 7 th ~
Continued to northeast Texas. Seems like I picked up a common cold last week which has been keeping me out of nursing homes until it passes.
          Thursday December 8 th ~
A relaxing day in a cheap campground dealing with cold symptoms.
          Friday December 9 th ~
Drove on into Louisiana staying out of nursing homes for a few more days.
          Saturday December 10 th ~
One more day of rest. Feeling much better.
          Sunday December 11 th ~
     What an uplifting day.
Pulled up to the "First Baptist Church" in Dodson, Louisiana where the folks gave me such a wonderful Spiritual Embrace, it humbled me. These dear Believers who have never met me before, invited me to share during the service, giving me most of the sermon time. And even took up a Love Offering for the ministry.
Several treated me to lunch out, gave me a place to park overnight at the church and even opened up the Parsonage next door so I could access the shower facilities.
What an awesome example of love and hospitality.

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.
James 4:13-17
