"Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope."
Matthew 12:18-21

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:15-17

          Monday May 5 th ~
A classic case of Laryngitis has shown up. I can barely talk above a whisper.
Today I was able to publish the newsletter from the home of my host' John & Connie here in Weldon, Illinois. And took the van to the next little town west to get the front-end lubricated at a Quick Lube which had offered to do it (No Charge).
After conferring with the main man, it looks like it might be helpful to get some new shocks installed at some point.
          Tuesday May 6 th ~
Some improvement in the voice today. Speaking slightly above a whisper.
Joined my host for lunch at the Senior Center where Connie runs the local program.
Trying not to speak or use the vocal cords anymore than necessary.
          Wednesday May 7 th ~
     More improvement. More rest.
          Thursday May 8 th ~
     Still Improving.
          Friday May 9 th ~
What a blessing it has been, for John & Connie to give me this time to recuperate with a convenient place to park, rest, shower, do laundry, all the daily chores we tend to take for granted. May God Bless Them!
          Saturday May 10 th ~
Tested the singing voice today for a short time. Seems like it's just about cleared up.
          Sunday May 11 th ~
Joined my host for a Mothers Day breakfast at their church, then to a nursing home in a nearby town where John and Connie hold a worship service. As they got started, I went into the Alzheimer's Unit and sang for about fifteen minutes, easing the voice back into operation. Then back to their service where I sang a few more as John & Connie served Communion.

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.  Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
Matthew 7:13-15

          Monday April 28 th ~
Joined a Sister in Christ at the theater this evening to see "Heaven is for Real".
          Tuesday April 29 th ~
     Laundry Day.
          Wednesday April 30 th ~
Sang at the "Winsor Manor" here in Grinnell, Iowa. Then drove east into Illinois.
          Thursday May 1 st ~
In Kewanee, Illinois I was able to minister at the "Royal Oaks Care Center". There were a few elderly residents present, but most of the group was made up of younger individuals with varying degrees of cognitive disabilities. Yet their enthusiasm for the Gospel, their singing along and blessing me afterwards, served to both encourage and humble me at the same time.
Back on the road headed southeast.
While there are many positive attributes to this new "Tour Bus", driving in windy conditions is not one of them. It can be quite a chore to keep it going in a straight line down the highway. I may have to start following the approach taken by monarch butterflies when they migrate south, and simply go-to-ground in gusty conditions.
          Friday May 2 nd ~
Sang at the "Hawthorn Inn" in Clinton, Illinois. First in the assisted living section, then in the nursing home area of this large complex.
          Saturday May 3 rd ~
In Weldon, Illinois I spent the day palling around with old friend's John, Connie & Curt.
Laryngitis type symptoms started appearing this morning, getting worse throughout the day.
          Sunday May 4 th ~
Attended church services with my host.
Shared my testimony with a small group during class, with my voice barely above a strained whisper. Something to pray about?
And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
