A Family Story

I'm now in Mobile, Alabama.
I recently turned 67 years old and thought it'd be fun to share a story about a family member titled:

Granny

My maternal granddad passed away before I was born. Granny was single for 13 years before marrying her second husband. In her mid 60s he passed. She waited one year to the day and went to beating the bushes. Writing letters to preachers she knew, going to Revivals. Said she wasn't going to wait another 13 years.
Not long afterwards she met Delmar in Northeast Texas at a Gospel Meeting. They spent three days and nights talking and 3 weeks later got married in my parents backyard by the swimming pool.
For years they were like a couple of teenagers on their honeymoon. Both of them retired in their mid 60s with lots of freedom and modest resources.
   It was beautiful to watch.

Louisiana

I'm now in Louisiana along the Mississippi river. Sunday I decided to see if I could minister in a nursing home for church. The first one I stopped at was locked down with mask everywhere. The second let me in and gathered a large group in the dinning room. We had a wonderful time together.

Deming, New Mexico

I'm now in Deming, New Mexico. Old friends Phil and Pat "widow and widower" met a few years ago and got married. Having an extra household they designated one of them a Ministry House. Last year and again this year they invited me to come stay for a couple of weeks and enjoy what I call a mini-sabbatical. Get to move out of the van. Spread out a bit. Enjoy a full kitchen, TV and my favorite a Jacuzzi Soaker tub in the master bath. Sweet!

Colorado

I enjoyed this past weekend at the home of Doug and Beverly in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
This is a couple that I met several times through the years at an Indian reservation in Lame Deer, Montana. They're part of a mission team that spends a week camped out at the Pow Wow grounds and do maintenance work on the church building, outreach in the community, prayer walks, Etc.
I connect with the same church most every year for one weekend and the timing has been such that they've been there at the same time, some years. So this past year they invited me to stop by their home if I went through Colorado. So I did and it was lovely.
I joined them at their church Sunday.   where I got connected to a group "Crossroads Ministries" who go around encouraging churches to start nursing home Ministries in their area. And provide resources and training for them to do so.
The director (Bill) pointed me to another Ministry "320 Ministries" a lady (Lori) who also ministers full-time in nursing homes and provides them with mobile devices that have the old gospel songs on them.
It's encouraging to me to see others out there ministering for the folks.

Kansas

I'm now passing through Kansas on my way to Colorado. Yesterday I stopped in two nursing homes in towns 30 miles apart. Both attached to/part of hospitals. The first one was all masked up, no opportunity to minister. The second was wide open, no mask anywhere, they gathered a large crowd for me. It was wonderful.
