For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.
Luke 19:10

          Monday August 19 th ~
Had breakfast with a bunch of guys from the "Restoration" church in Bandon, Oregon. Then drove to the Nazarene church in North Bend to publish the newsletter. Ended up getting invited to stay overnight at the pastor's house in their lower level apartment which they provide for visiting family and missionary's.
          Tuesday August 20 th ~
Drove to Bandon and ministered at the "West Wind" adult foster home. One of the fella's (Jay) from the "Restoration" church joined me, contributing his considerable guitar playing talents. Sweet!
          Wednesday August 21 st ~
Continued down the coast to a campground, resting the arm.
          Thursday August 22 nd ~
Back-tracked today.  Noticed the back tires on the van had worn down to the point where the metal fibers in the steel belt were showing through. So I drove 40 miles back to the Walmart in North Bend and got two new tires. Thankfully, last Sunday's love offering covered a little more than half the cost.
          Friday August 23 rd ~
Drove on into Brookings, Oregon and sang at the "Ocean Park" memory care facility for a large group of folks.
          Saturday August 24 th ~
At a campground just outside of town I met a wonderful group from one of the nearby churches who were having a getaway for the youth. I got to spend some time hang'n out with them and singing around their campfire.
          Sunday August 25 th ~
Attended the Assembly church in town with the youth group, then one more night visiting around the campfire. We had some excitement during the late afternoon. In the campsite next to mine a six year old boy went missing. For almost an hour the park rangers and a good many campers searched the trails and riverbank calling out his name, to no avail.
Needless to say, momma was getting a mite distraught.
Turned out, the little tyke was hiding up in the crook of a nearby tree. Later she drug him around for awhile introducing him to people who had been looking for him, which seemed to educate him on the mistake he'd made by not answering when he was called. It appeared that she was reluctant to let go of the vise-like grip she had, on that little arm of his.

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1: 2-4

          Monday August 12 th ~
Published from the Foursquare church in Reedsport, Oregon. Then assembled the T.R.S. (temporary recording studio) in the fellowship hall where a local girl (Deb) graciously agreed to provide some keyboard and vocal tracks for two of the Christmas songs in the current Cd project.
          Tuesday August 13 th ~
Sang at the "Harmony House" adult foster home for two residents and a care giver in Winchester Bay. There were also some folks down the hall in their rooms who might have been listening.
During the night, back in the Foursquare parking lot, I was awakened by a young police officer who said they'd received a complaint call concerned about someone sleeping in their van. After questioning me and looking at my drivers license he said he wouldn't bother me again.
          Wednesday August 14 th ~
Did the laundry-mat chore. Got in a walk, then shower at the Methodist church.
Started reformatting the printed version of the book for Amazon.
Sat in on the youth group's evening service.
          Thursday August 15 th ~
Finished reformatting and uploading the book. Also worked on uploading and formatting the Cd's to Amazon which offers a similar (assemble, print-on-demand and ship) service.
          Friday August 16 th ~
Ministered at the "Inland Point" assisted living facility in North Bend, Oregon. Then back to Reedsport for more laptop work.
          Saturday August 17 th ~
     Anniversary Day!
In August of 2004, I sang at the first nursing home, which was in Austin, Texas and hit the road shortly thereafter. Nine years ago.

          Sunday August 18 th ~
Attended the Foursquare Church in Coos Bay, Oregon. Bugged out early to get over to the Nazarene Church in North Bend to say hi to some folks. Turned out, about half the congregation was at "Family Camp" which this year was only 15 minutes away, so most of us joined them for a big pot-luck lunch out at the campground.
After getting a shower back at the church, I drove to Bandon, Oregon in time for evening services at the "Restoration Worship Center" where I enjoyed the honor of sharing some songs and testimony. These dear folks spontaneously took up a sweet little Love Offering for the ministry. M.G.B.T!

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.

Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people.
Exodus 22:28

          Monday August 5 th ~
Published from the "New Life" church in Lincoln City, then spent the rest of the day formatting the eBook for Kindle.
          Tuesday August 6 th ~
It's been quite a challenge to convert the book for Kindle. I had to download two free programs off the internet. The first (Calibre) was relatively easy. It transformed the .PDF file of the book into .ePub file format. Then I had to import that into the Sigil program to clean it up. Which was hard. Because I had to learn some aspects of using html code elements. But Praise God, He opened my minds eye to figure it out and get-er-done. So now the book is available in the Kindle eBook store---> http://www.amazon.com/kindle/dp/B00ECK13H8
          Wednesday August 7 th ~
Headed south down the coast. Stopped in Newport to do laundry and pick up a copy of "The Post". The owners of the Christian radio station here had given me the honor of writing this month's feature article. Here is the link to the August issue---> http://www.windsofpraise.com/home.cfm?dir_cat=29283
Continued on down the coast to Florence where I was able to minister at "Spruce Point". First in the Alzheimer's Unit, then in the main activity room. A young lady (Rebecca), blind from birth, was scheduled to sing and play the piano. Annette (the activity director) had me sing for awhile before Rebecca was due to start. When she arrived, we sang a duet for the folks. She has a lovely deep sultry voice.
I enjoyed the invitation to stay for dinner with the residents, then got over to the Port-of-Siuslaw which has free shower facilities.
Drove another twenty miles south to the Foursquare church in Reedsport where I parked for the night.
          Thursday August 8 th ~
Arranged a nursing home for tomorrow.
     Visited with some old friends.
Ice-pack for the arm a couple of times throughout the day.
Joined a group from the Methodist church at one of the parks for an evening get-together.
          Friday August 9 th ~
Sang in the nursing home section of the hospital here in Reedsport.
In the past, I have only been able to ask for song request once, because Peggy (resident) always wanted "Jesus Loves Me" no matter how many times I'd sang it. But this year I could ask twice because her first request was "Home on the Range".
          Saturday August 10 th ~
     Visiting time with friends.
          Sunday August 11 th ~
Attended worship services at the Foursquare church where I enjoyed the honor of contributing a couple of medleys. Then stuck around for an afternoon memorial service for a local 16 year old who passed unexpectedly last week. Standing room only.

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!

August 5, 2013

Greetings,

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp. He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Psalm 147: 7-11

          Monday July 29 nd ~
Wifi access at the Foursquare Church here in Lincoln City, Oregon has made it possible for me to publish the newsletter easily.
          Tuesday July 30 th ~
One more day of allowing the arm to heal, as well as lunch and some sweet visiting time with Darrell (the pastor here at New Life).
          Wednesday July 31 st ~
Drove north to Tillamook and ministered at the "Five Rivers" assisted living facility. Then on to Bay City where I hooked up with dear friends Gordon & Heidi.
          Thursday August 1 st ~
Spent time visiting with my host, including sitting in on their weekly guitar practice at the church. One of the member's (Ben) teaches free guitar lessons to those who wish it. They say, "He works as a medical doctor to support his guitar play'n".
          Friday August 2 nd ~
Sang at the "Griffin House" just outside of Bay City for a lovely group of about twelve residents and staff members. Then at the big table I enjoyed sharing their gourmet lunch of lightly breaded fish, rice pilaf and vegetables followed by lemon meringue pie. Yum!
Then back to Gordon & Heidi's for an afternoon of grilling steaks on the back deck overlooking the Bay. Sweet!
          Saturday August 3 rd ~
A day of hang'n out at my host house.
Did some work on the laptop.
          Sunday August 4 th ~
Attended the United Methodist Church here in Bay City, Oregon where I enjoyed the honor of contributing some songs and testimony.
These dear folks even put together a sweet love offering for the ministry.
Got a shower for the road back at Gordon & Heidi's. Said my goodbyes and thank yous and headed south down the coast. Stopped for the night at the Foursquare church in Lincoln City.

And so begins another week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
