Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise. I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted.

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."
Luke 18:9-14

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD-- and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
Isaiah 11:1-5

          Monday August 28 th ~
Started this week in Crescent City, California. Drove south to Eureka, Califonia and hooked up with friends Dennis & Daphany. Also, the leadership of the "First Covenant Church" have for many years given me a key for access to the building to shower and park and plug-in, which gives me a convenient base to work out of as I minister in the area.
          Tuesday August 29 th ~
Ministered at the "Especially You" residential care home.
          Wednesday August 30 th ~
     Domestic chores.
          Thursday August 31 st ~
Sang for a bunch of folks at the "Frye's" assisted living facility here in Eureka.
          Friday September 1 st ~
Attended an early morning men's gathering here at First Covenant.
Rust spots have begun showing up on the van's exterior over the past year or two. So today I put masking tape around three of the worse areas. With a ($10) spray can of matching color from the auto parts store, I applied three coats of paint over the next few hours.
     Looks pretty good, for now.
          Saturday September 2 nd ~
     Day of rest.
          Sunday September 3 rd ~
Attended services at the "Calvary Community Church" in Fields Landing which is just outside of Eureka.
Dennis (Pastor) gave me the sermon time to share "My Journey Through Israel".

And so begins another week.
